MSc Dissertation: “BlueWhispers: A location based promotional service”. Bluetooth location based prototype service (consisting of Mobile phones, Bluetooth, Laptops and Servers) that demonstrates a bundle of future technologies and services with the use of Mobile phones and Bluetooth terminals. This service allows users with Bluetooth enable mobile phones to register and receive offers according to their location via SMS. The users receive offers only if they choose to, by switching their Bluetooth on (after registering with the service). I finished my dissertation in February and I was asked to re-implement it for commercial purposes since then, due to interest of some investors, to start a spinout company via Kings College London. I made the system more robust, using the latest technologies that enabled the system to handle larger loads of information. The system was also optimised for better performance and processing. As a result of this, I was involved in the process of demonstrating the system to investors such as, venture capitalists and other companies. This system was programmed in Java (J2SE and J2ME) and I also used PHP, MySQL and Apache Web Server.

This is an uploading utility. It is an applet that uploads files to an FTP server of your choice. It provides an interface where you can change the following:

  • FTP address including username and password
  • Maximum upload file size
  • URL redirect after uploading is finished (in new or the same window)

This is an application that interfaces with an SMS gateway and allows you to send SMS over the internet. This program uses HTTP protocol to send sms via a GET method. This program has also been implemented as a tray icon so that you can have it always open for faster access.
This program has also been implemented in J2ME for Symbian enabled phones and uses GPRS connections for accessing the internet

 This program is intended for Crystal Interactive Ltd where I freelance as a Technical Manager. This is a program the simulates a task of the company's existing program and it creates agenda files that are used for the deployment of projects.

 Have you ever thought "Why do I have to open Thunderbird or Outlook to check if I have new emails?" Well here is your answer. I wondered the same thing and I made an tray icon that informs you for any new email messages you might have (Like MSN messenger and Gmail Notifier) so that you dont have to open your email client every minute or miss an email.
This tray icon informs you with a balloon message the sender of the email, and if you click on it, it opens your favourite client.

This is a program that send a request to a server via SOAP protocol and send an email. The way it works is as follows.

  • You install the web service on your server
  • You call the remote method via the WSDL file provided by the service.
  • The data is received by the server.
  • The server sends the email via SMTP protocol
This program is useful if you have a project at university or at work and you want to send an email but can't because of the firewall. Because SOAP uses HTTP protocol, this bypasses any firewall.
